I imagine diving in headfirst like an Olympic swimmer. But I dare not.
Is it deep enough? Can I jump far enough and with the right angle?
These concerns are wise for it is a dangerous thing. But this is also fear.
It is not safe to dive in alone for I might drown.
But there is no one to stand here with me as I contempate this dive
None to help me if I dive badly nor to dive in beside me.

When the tide is right and the moon is full I can see a girl there.
She sits and watches as the waves break around her and imagines herself with a tail
That she might dive into the water and swim away.
Away from work and worry if only for a night or even for a few hours.
